About the Event
The Federation of International Robot Sports Association (FIRA) – founded by Prof. Jong-Hwan Kim, KAIST, Korea
in 1996 – is the oldest robot soccer competition in the world. FIRA has grown to a major robotics competition with
the goal of using sports and real-world challenges as benchmark problems for state of the art research in robotics
and other related areas.
FIRA focuses on three goals:
(a) to provide challenging and motivating benchmark problems for state of the art research in intelligent robotics,
(b) to give senior students with valuable skills and experiences that allow them to be productive and develop their
careers in the new economy, and
(c) to introduce junior students to the fundamentals of STEAM topics (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and
Math.)
The FIRA RoboWorld Cup competition is held annually and will be hosted this year at the Lindenhalle in
Wolfenbüttel, Germany.
Ostfalia University is a co-organizer of this exciting event that attracts more than 1200 participants from all over the
world.
